A recent long term cross cultural study revealed that in cultures where people have been traumatized and developed PTSD- Post truamatic Stress Disorder– and have community support afterwards, get well. They recover within the nurturing, accepting and loving atmosphere of social connections and bonds.

This can be true with communities that are not human  too. Veterans who have companion animals, who go on retreat in the wilderness experience healing. There is also a thing called post traumatic growth. Some of us gain tremendous strengths like wisdom and compassion for trauma. We are more likely to grow in this way with in community.

Look for connection and community . It is essential to well being.
